Swing Dancing Every Friday Night
Only $10 on DJ Nights and $15 on Live Band Nights for Lesson and Dancing
Friday is the night for swing dancing in Sacramento! Held in our beautiful dance studio the Spotlight Ballroom. Each week people of all ages and walks of life dance the night away to the best Swing, Jazz, and Blues music in Sacramento. You’ll even catch live music once or twice a month ($15 cover charge depending on the band) featuring bands from around the world.
Some of the musicians in the bands we bring in have played with such legends as Keely Smith, Etta James, Chick Corea, John Lee Hooker Jr., Charles Brown, and many more. Our DJ nights ($10 cover charge) feature a wide variety of music that includes something for everyone. Song requests are always welcome, just talk to our DJ!
You never need a partner because our dances are extremely social and you’re sure to make great friends at Midtown Stomp. The dance runs from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am and there is an introductory lesson at 8:00 pm which is included with your cover charge. We also offer Group Swing Dance Classes for those who want to take their dancing to another level. Come out and join us every Friday night!

June 9th – DJ’d Dancing – $10
Are you ready to dance the night away? Us too! Get hyped because Scott Kaufman, our resident DJ, is taking the stage this Friday night and he’s going to bring the heat. Scott’s been our resident DJ for more than 18 years and knows just how to keep the party going all night long. Plus, he loves taking requests so be sure to hit him up with your favorite swing dancing tunes.
June 16th – The Alpha Rhythm Kings – $15
The Alpha Rhythm Kings have been taking the world by storm since their debut in 2017. Their mix of early Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, and Swing has left us wanting more every time they’ve played for us. Get ready for a night of high energy and pure fun!
June 24th – DJ’d Dancing – $10
Kelli Wilkerson is back in the DJ booth for our June 24th dance!
June 30th – The SwingMasters 17-piece Big Band – $15
In the swing dancing era, big bands were the primary type of band that played for dancers. Nowadays, it is difficult to find a big band that plays music specifically for swing dancing. Fortunately, Sacramento has the SwingMasters, a 17-piece band that is ready to swing you around in any direction you want. If you have never danced to a full big band, you do not want to miss this night!
July 7th – DJ’d Dancing – $10
We love live music but sometimes a good old DJ night can make for an incredible night. Our DJs will spin your favorite Swing, Jazz, and Jump Blues for your dancing pleasure. Your requests are always welcome so just ask your friendly DJ for the songs that you love to swing dance to.
July 14th – Nick Rossi Swing Six – $15
Are you ready for a night of swingin’ jazz and toe-tappin’ fun? Then mark your calendars because the Nick Rossi Swing Six is returning to the Midtown Stomp stage! This incredible band, led by the talented Nick Rossi, will be bringing their unique blend of swing and jazz to the stage for a night of music and dancing that you won’t want to miss.
July 21s – DJ’d Dancing – $10

July 28th – The Harley White Jr. Orchestra – $15
We’re excited to welcome the Harley White Jazz Orchestra back to the stage. They’re bringing back the swingin’ tunes of the Harlem Hit Parade! Harley is a staple of the Sacramento Jazz, Blues, and Funk scenes, and if you’ve seen live music in this town you’ve probably heard him play. With the perfect mix of Duke Ellington and Count Basie’s sound and incredibly talented players, this is sure to be a great night of dancing.
August 4th – DJ’d Dancing – $10
We have an awesome venue, we have awesome DJs, and now all we need is your awesome self to make the night complete!
August 11th – Peter and the Groove Machine – $15
We’ve known Peter Vawter and a long, long time. When he announced that he was leaving Japan and returning to the Sacramento area, we were excited and booked him immediately. His debut performance on our stage left us wanting so, so much more. So again, we booked immediately. You’re going to love his swingin’ fiddle and groovy sound!
